ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Corporate Crime Circle has taken action against six officers from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the president of a private housing society for charges of corruption and causing loss of human life.
The complaint that led to this action was filed by the former Director of Human Resource Development of the CDA, Fiaz Ahmed Watto.
According to the FIA spokesperson, the accused are believed to be responsible for altering the layout plan of the Pakistan Medical Housing Society located in Sector H-11.
This alteration went against the actual facts and involved reducing the width of a 60-70 feet wide natural drain to just 18 feet, which eventually led to the loss of two lives during the 2021 flash floods.
The president of the private housing society has been identified as Shahid Yaqoob.
The accused include the Director General of CDA Planning, Ghulam Sarwar Sindhu, the Member of PND, Abdul Aziz Qureshi, the Director of Housing, Ashiq Ali Ghori, the Deputy Director of Housing, Zafar Iqbal Zafar, the Deputy Director, Abdul Haq Brohi, and the Director of the Jeddah Town Project, Liaquat Mohiuddin Qadri.
The spokesperson shared that FIA Inspector Mohammad Yaqoob Mangreo has registered the case and initiated an investigation.
