Task Force Cracks Down on Illegal Housing Societies in Rawalpindi Division

RAWALPINDI: In response to Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Liaquat Ali Chatta’s directives, a Task Force has intensified its actions against illegal housing societies, criminal elements, and unauthorized security agencies operating in violation of regulations.

The four-member Task Force, led by the RDA Director General as chairman and including the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Revenue, Superintendent of Police Saddar, and Chief Officer of the District Council, was formed recently.

The details suggest that the primary focus is on curbing illegal activities within housing societies, including the hiring of unregistered guards, the construction of bunkers and hideouts, and the presence of illegal weapons.

A joint effort by the district administration, local police, and Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has led to a significant crackdown on illegal housing societies and associated illegalities.

The Task Force has been dismantling unauthorized structures, bunkers, gates, billboards, and other infrastructure linked to various illegal housing societies.

Notable operations targeted Rawal Enclave, Haider Residencia, Park Zameen Town, Al-Haram City, Danyal Al-Haram Block, Tameer Garden, Khan Builders, Manan City, Multi Gardens Phase-II, Faisal Town Phase-II, and Capital Smart City Extension.

Further operations on Chakri Road addressed the illegal activities of Abdullah City, Avalon City, Blue World City, and Al-Imran Homes, leading to the removal of main gates, billboards, advertising boards, dividers, and related equipment.

According to sources, the Task Force’s actions are in response to complaints from concerned citizens regarding illegal housing schemes and fraudulent practices.

The Chairman of the Task Force emphasized strict actions against any forceful land occupation and urged citizens not to invest in illegal housing schemes.

Besides, the notices were previously issued to owners and sponsors of illegal housing schemes, with FIRs lodged to curb illegal advertisements, plot bookings, and development work by such entities.

The Task Force deployed heavy machinery in its operations and vowed to maintain its crackdown against illegal construction and encroachments, ensuring no leniency for violators.
