Tax Collectors Seal 271 Properties in Rawalpindi During Ramadan

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi’s Department of Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control has continued its crackdown against property tax, professional tax, and luxury tax defaulters during the sehri and iftar hours of Ramadan.

The department has sealed property units of 271 tax defaulters and collected taxes of Rs50 million from the defaulters since the beginning of Ramadan.

Furthermore, the department has also arrested 11 of the defaulters and locked them up in its custody.

According to officials, the sealed properties will remain shut until all taxes are paid.

Due to the continuous raids and arrests, three citizens have challenged the property tax and professional tax payment notices in court and the courts have issued notices to the respective ETOs for their response.
