ISLAMABAD: The United States has revealed new programs for advancing energy cooperation with Pakistan, including a $500,000 project to restore electricity infrastructure in flood-stricken areas in Sindh.
Other initiatives include a grant for electric vehicle research and development work at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and support for women’s leadership in renewable energy.
The announcement was made after an energy security dialogue between the US and Pakistan, which concluded on Wednesday.
During the dialogue, officials and experts discussed energy issues and areas of cooperation, such as Pakistan’s renewable energy transition, electric vehicles, and increasing women’s participation in the energy sector.
Both governments agreed to continue deepening bilateral partnerships through the US-Pakistan Green Alliance framework.
The sources also confirmed that the next US-Pakistan energy security dialogue will be hosted by the US in 2024.
