LAHORE: On Thursday, Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa and LDA DG (Director General) Muhammad Ali Randhawa hosted a meeting with a delegation from the World Bank at the LDA office.
The visiting delegation consisted of Charles Schneider, Senior Private Sector Specialist, and Reshma Aftab, Private Sector Specialist.
As per the details, the focus of the meeting was to discuss and strategize the promotion of green buildings in Lahore.
The World Bank experts, along with MCL and LDA officers, were present to contribute to the discussion.
During the meeting, it was agreed upon that collaborative efforts would be made with the support of the World Bank to encourage investment in green buildings by involving the private sector, builders, and other stakeholders.
Additionally, the World Bank experts pledged to provide technical support and training to program officers to further the cause of green buildings in Lahore.
Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa and DG Ali Randhawa briefed the delegation about the recent developments in LDA rules, which have increased the rooftop gardening ratio to 50%.
Furthermore, they emphasized the importance of installing solar systems and promoting rooftop gardening in existing properties.
The LDA has also been actively conducting awareness campaigns to educate citizens about the benefits of green buildings, rooftop gardening, and plantation initiatives.
In the meeting, Chief Town Planner Shakeel Anjum Minhas provided a comprehensive overview of the steps taken by the LDA to promote greenhouses and plantation campaigns.
It was highlighted that various departments, including PHA, MCL, Department of Forestry, Agriculture, and LDA, are collaborating to ensure the success of these initiatives.
