Federal Govt and World Bank Supported SPHF to Aid Flood Victims

KARACHI: With funds from the federal government and $500 million from the World Bank-supported Sindh People’s Housing Foundation (SPHF), new houses would be built in all of Sindh’s flood-afflicted areas.

Speaking at a workshop arranged by the Sindh People’s Housing Foundation, the Chief Secretary of Sindh Dr. Muhammad Sohail Rajput announced this partnership.

According to the chief secretary, the government of Sindh has established a corporation under section 42 to build houses for flood victims.

He stated that the houses would be built by the firm in coordination with several partners and before starting the construction, a survey would be conducted for the feasibility study.

Furthermore, while a $250 million pledge by Sindh Government has been made, the World Bank has committed a grant of $500 million to the construction of housing.

The Chief Secretary also claimed that the federal government had promised $250 million for the construction of flood-struck houses.
