PESHAWAR: A senior delegation from the World Bank Pakistan, headed by Country Director Najy Benhassine, recently visited various sites in Bara Tehsil of Khyber tribal district.
According to sources, the sites have been financed under the Pakistan Community Support Project (PCSP) and the delegation was accompanied by the World Bank Operations Team, the Project Director PCSP, and the district administration of Khyber.
During the visit, the country director interacted with the local communities and noted that the most encouraging aspect of the newly built infrastructure, such as drinking water facilities and farm-to-market roads, was to see communities benefiting from them.
Furthermore, the delegation visited various project sites, including the solar-powered water supply scheme in Yousaf Talab village, which has been completed at the cost of Rs. 7.25 million by the communities in line with their priority development needs.
The country director praised the project and said that the World Bank would continue its support for community-driven development initiatives throughout the province as these projects articulate the development needs and priorities of the communities.
The delegation also visited Morcho Khwar village to inspect the farm-to-market road, which was completed for Rs. 6.83 million.
Besides, the community said that the road provided convenience to more than 60 households as it improved accessibility, increased enrollment, and enhanced transportation.
