National Library of Pakistan (NLP) has digitized more than 200 rare books and manuscripts so far to preserve the national literary heritage, said an official statement.
Commenting on it an official said that the step would not only help preserve national heritage but also facilitate researchers and scholars. Initially, Rs4 million were earmarked for the project.
Earlier, the NLP used scanners for preservation of books but now state-of-the-art technology like Book Eye and Zcutschel were being used for this purpose, he added. The technology was also being used in the developed countries and NLP has already imported it. CDs of these books were also being prepared.
