The true potential of the web can now be explored through Internet Explorer 9” said Kamal Ahmed, Country General Manager, Microsoft Pakistan. “The internet browser is critical for giving users the right online experience – one which is fast, secure, user-friendly and quite intuitive. Internet Explorer 9 is designed to bring sites to the front and center through Windows 7, enabling a more immersive, more beautiful Web experience. Features such as Pinned Sites and JumpListfeaturesenable people to put their websites directly on the Windows 7 Taskbar, as though they were native applications, and then to quickly and easily perform tasks related to those websites, such as check their inbox, change the music station, accept a friend invitation or see breaking news. These sites include some of the largest sites on the Web such as Facebook, Amazon, eBay and Twitter.

As a blogger who remains online 16 hours a day, I see IE9 changing the web surfing experience all together. With lot better speed, enhanced graphical processing and the clearer feel, IE9 is surely going to make the web a beautiful place to stay,” said Aamir Attaa, Editor, ProPakistani.PK, a top technology blog from Pakistan.

The new version of Internet Explorer takes advantage of the power of modern Windows PC hardware to improve allaround Web browsing performance.Internet Explorer9 is also designed to be the most trusted browser because it contains a robust set of built-in security, privacy and reliability technologies that keep customerssafer online.

"IE9 brings out the best of the web by giving users seamless access to their favorite websites through its unique pinning options, better tab management, performance improvements and powerful HTML5 support for rich in-browser applications" said Monis Rahman, CEO, Naseeb Networks.

Recent statistics show that more than 39 million people have already downloaded the beta version of IE9.This has no doubt given the product a significant share of the global web browser market even before it was officially launched. Microsoft confirmed that this is the highest and fastest adoption rate of any beta product ever launched.

  • Test after test shows that IE9 is a lot better than IE6, 7 or 8, but Chrome and Firefox are still better.

    Acid3: IE9 95/100, Firefox 4 97/100, Chrome 100/100
    html5: IE8 32, IE9 130, Firefox 3.6 155 Firefox 4 (release candidate) 255 Chrome 10 288. I use Chrome 12 and it is 291.

Also, I looked at the analytics for two sites in Pakistan with > 90% Pakistani traffic. One site has 11,500 visits in the last month, the other site 16,000. Site 1: XP 67.66% W7 21.53%. Site 2: XP 80.62% W7 11.18%. Both sites more than 95% traffic was Windows, only 1-3% Linux or Macintosh total.

How many of these users will IE9 help? Do the math, it’s simple. On other hand, if both sites are designed so they use HTML5 and STANDARDS that work in all browsers, almost 100% of the users benefit instead of 11-21%.

Also, look at the statistics: http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp

and also for just Pakistan, last year: http://gs.statcounter.com/#browser-PK-monthly-201003-201103

IE is losing the market, fast. Extend the range to 200801 to see Chrome’s rise and IE’s fall. Same statistics for India and Bangladesh. Iranians cannot easily download Chrome or Firefox because of export restrictions (encryption) so most use IE from Windows.

Going back to my two sites in Pakistan, on one site (16,000 users): IE 8 and IE 6 total 66% (very few IE7) Firefox 13.96% Chrome 13.77%. Other site: IE 8 and 6 total 41.59% Chrome 28.29% Firefox 23.83%

  • Just curious. What IE9 optimizations is ProPakistani using?

I mean I don’t see Jumplists or HTML5 being used etc, so what changes did you guys make?

P.S. IE 9 has been my primary browser since September 2010. Its blazing fast compared to both Chrome 12 and Firefox 4 thankst to its native DirectWrite based Hardware Acceleration. I dumped Chrome for this thing and haven’t gone back ever since.

Being a developer, now I can truly take advantage of the web browser.

  • mijay ik baat ki samaj nai a rai … k propakistani , Jang Group etc … sirf BeautyoftheWeb.pk sai hi kuon download karnay ka kah rahay hain .. is ko “download.microsoft[dot]com” sai bhi download kiya ja sakta hai lakin sab force ker rahay hain k http://www.BeautyoftheWeb[dot]pk sai kun k wahan per propakistani ko feature kiya giya hai :d kya game ker rahay ho yar … ap nai ie k to features bata di , lakin firefox or chrome k kuon nai bati phir ? there is something fishy going on :-s … Amir bahi ager ap waqi mai hi ie9 like kartay ho to direct link do na download ka :d or please baki firefox or chrome kuon na use karay yai bhi bata dina plz :p

  • whatever comes.but nothing matches Mozilla Firefox.. The best browser……. Mozilla dominates in all aspects.. IE9 has nothing special, so why one should use it………

    • Due to Chrome and IE9 aggressive marketing and feature development, FF recently lost around 2% market share. FF also planning to release its versions as quickly as Chrome does.

“IE9 has nothing special” – well, go and check out what IE9 has to offer before just blindly giving comments. The best thing it has is DirectWrite Hardware Acceleration, which makes it much smooth to browse and more responsive.

FF only has one problem, memory consumption. I thought they have reduced it in version 4, but if I keep my 15 tabs open, it consumes around 700-800MB memory, and that is with 2-3 basic add-ons only.

  • IE9 is mediocre software if you ask anyone who knows about browsers. The most annoying thing is you cannot disable the Cleartype font in this version of IE.

Chrome, Firefox and Opera have better support for new stuff like HTML5.

  • IE9 is much better now, its fast too.
    i m using firefox4 and chrome10.
chrome has very limited options compare to firefox4 and ie9.
no XP support thats lame from microsoft.

    • Users don’t care about “options”. They want to click on an icon and type in a website. That’s it.

Oh, also they want dumb toolbars. Never forget the dumb toolbars. Yahoo! and Mysearch and at least two others.

      That’s why there users.

  • Haan Pak mein bohat noobs hai, apnay nikkamay browser ka marketshare barhain gay ab yeh :((
