Mobilink and Ufone signed an accord to enter into an agreement for tower sharing.
The agreement was signed between Rashid Khan, President and CEO of Mobilink, and Abdul Aziz, President and CEO of Ufone at the Mobilink House.
This collaborative effort is in line with the initiatives taken by the Pakistan Telecom Authority and the Federal Government to encourage cellular providers to drive greater efficiencies while reducing the carbon foot print.
Sharing his views, Rashid Khan said,
“This alliance is mutually beneficial and will also facilitate us to better align ourselves with our strategic initiatives and become greener. This will further enhance Mobilink’s coverage footprint, already the widest, hence, bringing more value to the customer which is our top priority.”
Commenting on the accord, Abdul Aziz, CEO Ufone, said,
“Ufone has had a keen interest in exploring newer avenues for our “Go Green” initiative and this tower sharing alliance is another step forward to further enhance our initiative. With this alliance Ufone has moved ahead to ensure customers have seamless connectivity no matter where they are in the country. This follows similar alliances with other operators hence allows us to create a positive network layout most beneficial to the customer”
Through sharing of their network infrastructures the two cellular providers will be able to enhance the customer experience by offering a wider coverage footprint, driving synergies and reducing their respective carbon foot prints.

For someone breaking every tiny bit of news as BREAKING, you haven’t shared probably the most anticipated development in Pakistan telecom.
P.S: I suggest, you can focus some of your time to make people more aware of the telecom business, not just the latest sms packages, I hope you get the point.
Suggestion noted, but what about the most anticipated dev in Pakistan Telecom? Can you please elaborate? as i didn’t get your point here
I totally agree with Observer
If you guys don’t have news then don’t publish anything on your blog.
So now i have a hope of getting better signals inside my house.
Yaar ye ufone and Jazz ki tou laraye nahi chal rahi thi bHaLa ?
Ufone Aue Jazz Ki Larayee Tou Chal Rahii Thee ….. Pher Doonoo Naay Soocha ….. Business Ek, Mulk Ek, Tou Aika Kar Laina Chahyeeay ….. Ainda Sai Sirf Ab Customers Lara Kareein Gaay :-)
( I Mean Service Quality Par, Customer Services Par Etc. Etc. )
@Admin: My statement should be read as the most anticipated development related to telecom infrastructure management in recent times. I don’t want to give it away, but it involves your favorite cellular company :P
there will be sharing in existing towers??
now thats an important question.
I hope it is a good step, and i think every company should do this. because consumer will get better coverage, better services, better data rates and i hope so by sharing tower information it will help to recover ASAP from disasters like recent in Mobilink.
And the main benifit will be the power saving, means cost saving.
Can you please explain how these benefits (better service and better data rates as you mentioned) will come with tower sharing? I dont see any relation between tower sharing and the above mentioned benefits!
Good move by both companies….
This means both the Giants have accepted each others existence & decided to co-exist. I think this is an alarm signal for Warid, Zhong & Telenor & may b for customers as well… as they may sign some sort of service & charges contract as well in near future.
Inka aaaakaa na ho jaey aur customer ke laggg jaey…I hope Competition Commission of Pakistan will stay alive.
Excellent news. Best I have heard so far.
Cost reduction measures forced the giants to accept better cooperation for survival.
All others can jump in on the agreement if they can sit down and “share” resources.
PTA excellent job. This is what the PTA was designed to do. Work for the customer.
The best things done so far was the reduction of roaming charges inside the country. Number portability and allowing a lot of licenses.
Next step. Make low cost licenses for wifi, wimax and allow roaming. Also provide low cost licenses for global voip like the US.
We need some experts to calculate the benefits of the customers, companies, government, and other stake holders for future ideas.

Khawar
