PTCL has announced this Ramadan Special promotion for its broadband customers, which offers 4 Mbps broadband for the price of Rs. 1,499 per month.
Customers can enjoy 4 Mbps speed at the price of 2 Mbps during Ramadan.
All existing customers (of 2 Mbps broadband) can call 1236 to get their broadband speeds upgraded to 4 Mbps without any additional cost till September 30th, 2012, after which they will have to pay usual price of 4 Mbps, i.e. Rs. 1,999 per month.
New customers can also avail this offer, while 1 Mbps broadband holders can upgrade to 4 Mbps speeds as well.

PTCL helpline said there are no charges for downgrading to 2 MB or 1 MB package. You can call 1236 and confirm this before upgrading your account.
what about those who are using 1mbps student package ? Same offer for them??
there is nothing left in this country for students accept for couple of rupee discount on public transport and 1mbps pathetic broadband :P

@ ET Video .. 5000 would only be charged if customer download more then 300gb which is quite high threshold for a home user. This condition also exist in their normal package.

PTCL will have to improve its service first. And if we do upgrade our packages what benefit it will give us.
i know ptcl have to improve their service but thanks god that its my third year with ptcl broadband and i never face any major issues with them.
There are quite higher chances that those who are currently using 1 or 2 Mbps, if go for this upgrade package of 4 Mbps, will not want to switch back to previous as they would have become used to.
This is really good Marketing approach and PTCL have been doing this in past.

Well their technical staff is so lazy, its pretty much impossible to have your 4mb bandwidth before September 30th.

When you call to upgrade your connection. Do take your order number and if you find that your connection is not upgraded you can email at [email protected]
What about those already on 4 mbps?? Will they get a discount?? If not, then a better strategy for them would be to downgrade their base package to 1 mbps and then get 4 mbps speed till 30th Sep – a savings of over Rs. 2000!
lol 1st PeeTCL have to upgrade their infrastructure. Most of PeeTCL BB users cant use 4MB due to old and expired infrastructure. If they upgrade to 4MB they will face alot of problems like disconnecting problem, noise in telephone etc. I have experienced all this.

i so wanna curse at PTCL right now, why they advertises The 4Mb speeds, when they dun have infrastructure to provide that,
in this country there is no body who can take action against them?? even PTA don’t accept complains against PTCL >.<
Its a market tactic to put users on 4mb plan to get extra charges as when i start with ptcl broadband i started with 4mb package but when i charged Rs.5000 i downgrade it to 2mb so now i am much curious to either upgrade it to 4mb or not?
Its a good offer for me special, i’ll down grade my two DSL from 4mb to 2mb, it will save my 2000/ rupees for two monthe

I also called on 1236 and chat with hina at ptcl and she confrimed me that my 2mb connection will be upgraded to 4mb within 7 days and i also confirmed that we have to downgrade it to 3days earlier before 30sep and there are no charges for downgrade.
Remember when you get 4mb package then take care of your downlods as they must be with in limit of 300gb/month otherwise you will pay Rs.5000.

I dont know if any one really works in PTCL or not… just requested to upgrade my connection from 2 mb to 4 mb and have been told that it will take 7 days just for upgradation….which should not take more then 10 to 15 mins per connection if you dont know how to do it…. give me access of you systems and i will do the port upgradation and package change in 5 mins… :)… YOU LOSSERS……

After 31 hours of request for promotion, my connection is still 2MB.
Looks like jab koi request aaye gi PeeTCL kay pass for upgradationof link they will announce a vacency for an engineer and start hiring ppl to do the needful that is the only way it will take 7 days else i dont find a reason for such a delay…
using it, enjoying it and loving it. but i’m worried how will i go back to 1Mbps which i was using till yesterday???
call 1236, the operator will give you 1 week tops for the upgrade, hopefully if u apply by phone now by late next week ull get ure connection upgraded!

main ne 4mb se wapis 2mb per convert kawa liya tha 4 month pehle lakin mara bandwith abe be 4 mb ka he haa main abe 2mb student pakage use kar raha hoon RS 1299/month lakin mari speed abe be full 4mb ha . our upload speed 1MB. Kaya super Kool Hain hum.

Ooo yarr, i am stuck at this, i upgraded my 1mb student package to 4mb via this package, and upgrade was completed in 2 to 3 hours, but working like a beast for 5 to 6 hours, it started disconnecting automatically,modem was loosing DSL connectivity after every minute or two,
i made complaints, gone to exchange, even emailed to higher official of my area, but again internet works for several hours, then the whole disconnecting thing starts,
finally they said we dun have powerfull enough copper lines at your area to provide 4mb speed, and i was like, agar line capable nhin thin tou mujhe 4mb diya Q ?? :(
and now i want to downgrade back to my 1mb student package, so i am still having problems in downgrading back, they are saying provide all the requirements again OMG :(( i’m so pissed of, 5 days and internet is still down,
i would recommend to every one before upgrade, meet your DSL guy at exchange and ask if your line supports 4mb or not, as i’m now in the BIG MESS, i think i will disconnect my Landline and will order new one, Means More Kharcha ;-(((

ordered my 4mb from student 1mb, its upgraded in the system but still getting pathetic old 0.86 down and 0.18 upload speed..

upgrade to ramazan package then it will take you 15 days to downgrade and they will mess up your speed , ptcl is run by useless bunch of ppl with no technical skill especially dsl officer or whatever you call it..

PTCL helpline says “internet ki speed download kernay kay liay non-peak hours (raat 12 say subha 12) per apni download speed speedtest.ptcl.net per check karain”
this means kay aap kay connection ab dedicated nahi raha… i have experianced 450kB/s in night and around 40-60kB/s in morning, which is really pathetic.
the support person that visited my house also said kay ptcl per 4 mb connection per max aap ko 200kB/s ki speed milay gi.. simply pathetic.. may nay device nikaal ker dikhai “watten thunderbolt” 2 mb ki aur poocha kay bhai is per kitni speed daytay hon gay wateen walay to bonga ban gaya banda.. their staff comes afterwards PTCL policies are really really pathetic… first of all there is no coordination between departments.. Billing aap ki 2 ghantay may start ho jati hay new connection ki, complaint kay baad staff 3-4 din may visit kerta hay… phir pair change hotay hain aur khanchay mangay jatay hain.. DSL wala line man per dalta hay aur line man DLS walay per… mujhay bhi kaha gaya kay aap DSL officer say rabta karain.. may nay kaha kay aap logo ki reach may nahi hay kia DSL officer.. aap ka kaam hay mujhay service provide kerna… ajeeb system hay.. will be switching to thunderbolt indefinately..
for those on student package:
they can upgrade to 4 mb too, but on downgrade back to 1 mb student they will need to show again proper documentation and fill and attest the form “again” from concerned school/college/university to get their old connection back on old charges..

i have also upgraded to 4Mb/sec , our area lines has been recently Converted to Fiber Optic, and now we can get upto 10Mb/sec,,,, my line details on 4Mb is as follow:

SNR Margin: 34 db [downstream]——- 8.5 db [upstream]
Attenuation: 20 db[downstream] ——– 9.5 db [upstream]
i can get maximum of 535 KB/sec data down transfer rate and 110 KB/sec data up transfer rate
