Qasif Shahid, Head of Digital Banking at MCB, Resigns

Qasif Shahid, Digital Banking head at MCB and the man behind MCB Lite — bank’s flagship mobile wallet — has resigned from his position, we have confirmed with sources.

Qasif — regarded as pioneer of digital payments and financial inclusion in Pakistan — was responsible forĀ all digital banking ventures of MCB and theĀ place that the bank has gained in digital space. He was the man behind the launch ofĀ Pakistan’s first ATM for MCB, branch-less banking and MCB Lite.

It won’t be out of place to mention here that MCB is the most profitable and one of the largest banks in Pakistan. Qasif was heading MCB’s Digital Banking for last seven years.

Qasif previously served as head of Marketing and Alternative channels for ABN AMRO bank Singapore. Qasif, along with managing the brand of ABN AMRO, was responsible for managing and building electronic channels including the call center, internet banking, mobile commerce and other non-branch customer touch-points.

Qasif before joining MCB,Ā served Standard Chartered BankĀ as head ofĀ Alternative Channels and the Marketing function and later on severed as the General Manager Front-line Experience for the bank.

While we are yet to ascertain Qasif’s future plans, we are told that he’s going to look for bigger roles in the same domain in Pakistan and UAE.
