Three Passengers Rescued After Chairlift Malfunction In Havelian

Three passengers were safely rescued after a sudden technical fault developed in a chairlift, also known as a Doli Lift, in the Thai Dhamtor area of Tehsil Havelian, according to the district administration.

Officials said rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the site after receiving reports of the malfunction.

With the support of residents, the teams carried out a prompt and successful rescue operation and safely evacuated all three passengers trapped in the chairlift. No injuries were reported.

On the directives of Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Sarmad Saleem Akram, Additional Assistant Commissioner Galiyat Muhammad Tariq and Additional Assistant Commissioner Kamran Ali Shah visited the site along with rescue officials.

They supervised the operation and reviewed the situation in detail.

Following the incident, the district administration sealed the chairlift until further notice and summoned its owner to court over compliance and fitness certification.

Authorities instructed the owner to immediately conduct maintenance work, complete a thorough safety inspection, and fulfil all legal requirements.

The administration said the chairlift would remain suspended until its owner obtained a valid fitness certificate and a No Objection Certificate.

The district administration reiterated that ensuring the safety of citizens was its top priority and that safety standard operating procedures were being strictly enforced across all chairlifts to prevent future incidents.

Residents were advised to use only officially approved chairlifts with valid NOCs.
