PTA Reinstates SMS Based Donation Service for Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital

After the surfacing of media reports about the ban of SMS based donation collection service for Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has reinstated the service, we have checked with sources.

With the said SMS service, any individual can donate Rs. 20 to SKMCH by sending a blank SMS to 7770.

However, the service got blocked recently after the management of Shaukat Khanum Hospital started a campaign for collection of donations for its Peshawar campus.

After the matter was highlighted by media, PTA decided to reverse the ban.

Dr. Faisal Sultan, Chief Executive Officer, Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Center, while speaking with ProPakistani confirmed that short code 7770 is now restored by PTA.

Dr. Faisal specifically thanked Chairman PTA, Dr. Ismail Shah, who personally intervened and helped in restoring the code.

This short code 7770 allows Rs 20 donation against each blank SMS. Though  it’s a very little amount but every single penny counts as its used for the treatment of such deserving cancer patients.

CEO of SKMCH said that they need the support for the construction of Pakistan’s second Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre being built in Peshawar which will be a model hospital with state of the art equipment and facilities in it.

SKMCH thanked all telecom operators and specially Warid Telecom that supports the donation campaign throughout the year.

  • Why PTA stopped it in first place. No commission?? They do not stop the the greedy and cheating TelCons. from fleecing consumers.
