Zong has signed a contract with Higher Education Commission (HEC) for the provision of Wireless Broadband Services on laptops to be provided to the students across the country under the “Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme Phase-II”.
Under the contract, Zong will offer free 100,000 3G Dongles to qualifying students — who will also get Laptops — across Pakistan.
HEC and Zong said that objective is to provide reliable and efficient connectivity access to students through these Wireless Broad Band Services and enhance their knowledge base across the country.
Chairman & CEO Zong Mr. Liu Dianfeng said,
“We appreciate Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif’s vision for putting more emphasis on Education and vesting in the betterment of people of Pakistan.
Education plays vital role in the progress of any nation. Zong takes it as its responsibility to contribute to the uplift of different social sectors.
It is with this spirit that we have decided to come forward and assist the Government of Pakistan in its Prime Minister Laptop Scheme Phase II which will benefit thousands of bright students across the country.”
The students will be provided wireless internet access to Global Educational Resources available on HEC’s Digital Library through PERN (Pakistan Education & Research Network).

The HEC Digital Library resources were currently available to students only in campuses of respective Universities; but by virtue of this project, students will be able to access the Digital Library resources across the country, anywhere, anytime.
With 3G internet dongles from Zong, students will also enjoy seamless Internet services, besides the access to HEC Digital Library.
These dongles will come with free 3G internet services for three months, after which students will be allowed to use the services as per usual 3G tariffs from Zong.
Chairman HEC, Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad said,
“Education can make a lot of difference in social well-being of nearly 47 million Pakistani youth among which over 2.6 million students are getting Higher education.
This initiative is an effort to provide more and more efficient means of education in line with Prime Minister’s vision 2025.
HEC and Zong can work together to setup R&D centers, E-Classrooms and Innovation Centers for youth capacity building. Pakistani youth is full of innovative ideas which needs to be empowered through these platforms.”
Zong will also help HEC in program designing, implementation of scheme as well as execution of this vital project.
Not to be mentioned, 100,000 students from across Pakistan in public universities will be selected to be given free laptops and the dongles.

Why govt. ignore their own organization PTCL and sign a deal with Zong right after few days when zong was taking PTA to court regarding 3G Auction
Because EVO services are not reliable, they have failed to provide good wireless services to their current customers and subsequently EVO customers switched to other options. Moreover ZONG is offering a lot more than just internet.
But they are using ptcl charji in metro buses and they have great speed and coverage as well
PTCL had been separated from government long ago as far as I know?
well good thing, Let PTCL focus on wired technologies first allow us 4MB DSL in 1000Rs. 2 In 500MB. Dont make any contract with them in wireless technologies
I have got myself a new PTCL Broadband Internet Connection 4Mbps unlimited and the maximum speed I have experienced on this connection is 0.93Mbps.
P.S: I am paying Rs2400/month.

Yes indeed. I know there is a line problem and I have contacted them many times but they are too lazy to fix the line. Every time I visit PTCL Exchange they just refresh the port and say you can now go check your internet connection it will be better. But nothing changes.
What’s more pathetic is their stupid behavior “Bhai aap ny 4Mbps connection ka karna kia hai abhi itni achi speed to aa rahi hai 1Mbps buhat achi hoti hai aap apna connection rollback karwa len 1Mbps unlimited behtreen hai”.
I just don’t understand how these people with lame mentality got this Job. . .
Dude. Find lineman, show him some red notes, tell him to check the line. He will happily fix the problem.

Can anyone tell what is this cheezmall doing they claimed to have thousand of products largest eCommerce.As far i can tell they only have 100 to 150 on their website also most of the website is not working properly and it looks like a website and company opened by 12 year old kid.

I am afraid that they might stop evo all together as Ptcl don’t have applied for lte license and they are offering charji services.
I think here propakistani has failed to mention that spectrum is limited and soon we will run out of it and everyone will witness slow wireless speeds. Govt should had made policies regarding making DSL and fibre more cheaper instead of these wireless and spectrum limited technologies.
There goes my Internet speed on Zong.
The PTCL evo services got disrupted in my area due to some tower problem and they did not even bother to fix it for over two weeks. This is the level of services they are offering to consumers.
