Govt Releases Rs. 343 Billion Under the PSDP 2017-18

The government has released Rs. 343.8 billion (35 percent) including Rs. 67.6 billion foreign aid for different development projects under Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2017-18 in the current fiscal year 2017-18 against total budgeted allocation of Rs. 1,001 billion.

According to latest data released by the Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms, the government has released Rs. 92.1 billion (28.7 percent of total budgeted amount of the federal ministries) including Rs. 2.34 billion of foreign aid for development projects of various federal ministries against the total budgeted allocation of Rs. 321.3 billion.

However, the government has not so far released funds for development projects of some ministries, divisions and their departments including Foreign Affairs Division, Religious Affairs & Interfaith Harmony Division, Textile Industry Division, National Security Division, Special Federal Development Programme, Energy for All, Clean Drinking Water for All, Special Provision for Completion of CPEC Projects and Gas Infrastructure Development Cess.

The government has released Rs. 116.4 billion including Rs. 45.6 billion foreign aid for infrastructure projects of National Highway Authority (NHA) against total budgeted allocation of Rs. 325.7 billion.

The Planning Commission has released Rs. 19.3 billion including Rs. 18.9 billion foreign aid for development projects of the Ministry of Water and Power (Power Sector) against the budgeted allocation of Rs. 63.3 billion.

A total of Rs. 8.1 billion including Rs. 233 million foreign aid, was released for different development projects of National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination Division against the total budgeted allocation of Rs. 48.7 billion under PSDP 2017-18.

The government released Rs. 400.26 million for different developmental projects of National Food Security and Research Division against the earmarked Rs. 1615.96 million for the development of agriculture sector in the country.

An amount of Rs.10.73 billion including Rs. 102.75 million foreign aid, has been released for Water and Power Division (Water Sector) against the budgeted allocation of Rs. 36.75 billion for current fiscal year.

An amount of Rs. 11.628 billion has been released for different projects of Higher Education Commission (HEC) against total budgeted allocation of Rs. 35.7 billion.

The government has released Rs. 15.25 billion for development projects of Pakistan Railways Division against total budgeted allocation of Rs. 42.9 billion for current fiscal year 2017-18.

The government has released Rs. 14.72 billion including Rs. 495.3 million foreign aid for the development projects of Azad Jammu and Kashmir against the total budgeted allocation of Rs. 25.84 billion for current fiscal year.

Rs. 7.7 billion (including 173.9 million foreign aid for development projects of Gilgit-Baltistan) have been released against Rs. 18.3 billion budgeted allocation, while Rs. 10.6 billion including 53.3 million foreign aid was released for the projects of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) against the total budgeted allocation of Rs. 26.9 billion.

The government released Rs 8.94 billion, including 31.17 million foreign aid to Finance Division, Rs. 964.86 million to Aviation Division, Rs. 895.18 million to Port and Shipping Division, Rs. 304.56 million to Science and Technological Research Division, Rs. 218.6 million for Defence Division, Rs. 6.26 billion million for Housing and Works Division, Rs. 49.5 million for Information and Broadcasting Division and Rs. 1.79 billion for Defence and Production Division.

Rs. 1932.86 million were released to Capital Administration and Development Division, Rs. 340 million to Climate Change Division, Rs. 240 million to Commerce Division, Rs. 5.3 billion for Communication Division (Other than NHA), Rs. 5.21 billion to Interior Division, Rs114.6 million to Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority and Rs. 1732.09 million to Planning, Development and Reform.

The Planning Commission released Rs. 42.075 billion for Special Federal Development Programme for temporarily displaced persons (TDPs) against Rs. 90 billion budgeted allocation and Rs. 9.2 billion for development projects of Prime Minister’s Youth and Hunarmand Programme under current fiscal year 2017-18. The entire amount of Rs. 30 billion has been released for Prime Minister’s Global SDGs Achievement Programme.
