Ahmad Shahzad Added to PSL Draft in Gold Category

Cricket doors have reopened for Ahmed Shehzad as his name has been included in the Pakistan Super League pool of players ahead of the drafts.

Shehzad, who opened the batting for Multan Sultans in PSL 2018, is placed in the Golde category.

The 26-year-old is currently placed in Sultan’s roster. His franchise can retain, trade or release him back into the Draft pool.

“Shehzad’s name has now been added to the PSL pool of players. He is placed in the Gold category. Ahmed played for Multan Sultans last year and is currently placed on their roster. Multan can retain, trade or release him back into the Draft pool,” said the board’s release on Thursday.

The player acquisition committee for PSL did not include Shehzad’s name in the initial pool of players as he was suspended by Pakistan Cricket Board after he failed the dope test.

Shehzad was recently handed a four-month ban from the board for consuming THC – a synthetic Cannabinoid.

However, the ban was back-dated to July and the opener will return to cricket in November later this year and will be available for selection.

When PSL committee released names of over 480 players for the draft, it did not include the name of Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal. Both players have been out of the national side for misconduct.

However, on the requests of a franchise member, Umar was placed in the Platinum category and now Shehzad has also regained his place in the lucrative league.
