The news is that Mobilink is working on a formula to bring Mobilink Infinity and Link Dot Net under one banner.
Inside sources at Link Dot Net confirmed us that arrangements are under way to merge Mobilink Infinity and Link Dot Net, as one combined internet unit of Mobilink. This development is specifically important when it would be seen in a scenario, where internet unit of Orascom Link Dot Net Egypt is sold to Mobinil. Earlier, we were told that Link Dot Net Pakistan will go with this Orascom-Mobinil deal, however, as per reports, Mobilink was less interested in Pakistan’s arm of Link Dot Net.
Effort for this expected merger started when Mustafa Paracha was given the headship of BBU (Broadband Unit) of Mobilink. He was earlier VP Customer Services.
When asked, Link Dot Net’s spokesperson said that she is ignorant of any such developments going on, however, she promised that we will be informed as soon as any news will come in on this.
We are not sure of future strategy of Mobilink Infinity, but apparently, its expansion is halted as Orascom has decided not to invest further in Pakistan, as part of its cost cutting policy.
