PTCL Asked to Clarify its Position Over Hamid Mir’s Secret Tape

The mysterious and yet unknown group of militants ‘Asian Tigers’ has demanded PTCL to clear its position on phone tape of Hamid Mir, allegedly in conversation with Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan.

Last week a phone tape appeared on Internet, alleging Hamir Mir in conversation with a Punjabi Talib associate of Hakimullah Mehsud. In the tape, Mir is apparently discussing former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) official Mr. Khalid Khawaja, who was later killed by ‘Asian Tigers’ after holding him hostage for more than a month.

In response to an email on Press Pakistan, a Google group of journalists, Hamid Mir denied the factuality of the tape and posted email from Taliban, in which Taliban along with denial of this tape demanded PTCL to clarify it position.

Following is the excerpt:

Subject: press release 16-05-2010 (on Behalf of ASIAN TIGERS)

Who gave the authority to PTCL or any government agency to tape a phone prior to any court order. By doing this PTCL is also establishing its reputation as an alley of terrorists (Govt. of Pakistan, ISI and Army).

If this happened again then PTCL should ready to get the most suitable answer in proper manner. Although we know how PTCL was sold to these culprits and Khwaja was also involed in that deal. Do you want to raise the curtain?

PTCl should clear it’s position in order to bring the facts if this tape is true or fake. If they claim it is a true tape then they also give explanation why they tape these calls. If this is the fake one then they also took legal actions against that agency.

If PTCL will not take any action then no problem, we are here and you have a very little time for confession. Take care.

Note: This statement is on behalf of ASIAN TIGERS

It merits mentioning here that the channel of communication of said tape is yet unknown, as the tape doesn’t reveal if it was originated on land-line, cellular, satellite phone or the internet?

  • I found nothing more than a journalist talking to an unknown person, no doubts it raises against Hamid Mir. In fact many videos are uploaded on youtube with titles to attract attention of viewer and portraiting Hamid Mir as traitor.

If the source of this telephonic conversation is unknown even than there is more chances that it is a conversation on Landline coz IF Hamid Mir is really talking with a Taliban leader and having “links” with them he would use a new SIM card with a new cell so he can’t be traced/tapped by anyone easily.

The fact is that you can make a Ladline FM transmitter in less than 100 Rs. & which uses line power to transmitt.

So most probably it can be on landline, though I found nothing wrong in the whole tape. I still think he is not just a good journalist, but a good human as well.
