Team Ufone Golfer Makes it to the Asian Tour

Muhammad-MunirMuhammad Munir, Pakistan No. 3 & Tour team member for Ufone, recently qualified for the Asian Tour, making him the only Pakistani Golfer to qualify for the Asian Tour via Q school.

In the past he has participated in a few Asian tour events for which both himself & Shabbir Iqbal were invited to represent Pakistan. Shabbir who has held onto the No.1 slot in Pakistan for a number of consecutive year is also a member of the promising Ufone squad.

Munir participated in the recently held Dubai Classic Golf Tournament making him the only Pakistani ever to take part in the European Tour. This was accredited to the performance he displayed in last year’s MENA tour.

He out performed all other Pakistanis that took part in the Tour and was the proud winner at the Ras Al Khaimah Classic. At the end of the MENA tour Munir was ranked 4th among many international players which is indeed a great feat for Pakistan.

Munir said, this is indeed a great achievement and I look forward to bring Pakistan onto the fast progressing International Golf Map. I would like to thank Ufone for its continuous support to the game of golf in Pakistan, their development program is sure to help in the growth and professionalism in the sport.

Pakistan’s Muhammad Munir first created history when he steered his country into their first World Cup appearance at the Omega Mission Hills World Cup in 2009, this was his first step onto the international circuit. At 38 he is still a promising prospect for Pakistan Golf. The sport may not get the same attention as popular sports like cricket or hockey yet Munir is hoping to be among the forerunners to turn the spotlight on the sport by performing well on the Asian Tour.

It is pertinent to mention that this year a record 761 golfers from across the globe registered for the Asian Tour Q School, out of which only the Top 41 made it to the Asian Tour.

Munir had a great 2012, having also won the President Gold Medal among many others and hopes to continue his form on the international circuit.

  • finally some attention to one of the most amazing sports, its about time people realize that there are sports other then just cricket and Pakistan sure does have talent
