Pride is an acronym for People Recognised for Innovation Distinction Excellence. It is Pakistan’s first ever portal which aims to highlight the unsung heroes & high achievers from our country.
Each year, the portal will celebrate the achievements and contributions of eminent Pakistanis by profiling leading citizens who are role models for us all. They will be the people who can inspire the nation through their achievements and challenge us to make our own contributions for creating a better community.
This portal has been founded by Taimur Rehman, who is an IT entrepreneur and currently heads a company called ‘Webmekanics’. Taimur is a passionate story-teller and became the first Pakistani to ever perform at the South Asian Literature Festival in London last year. With a background in IT and passion in story-telling, Taimur came up with the idea of contributing towards society through stories, technology and people and hence, PRIDE came into being.
PRIDE has a formal Board of Advisers which include:
- Mr. Wahaj Siraj (CEO Nayatel)
- Mr. Naved A. Khan (Ex-President Faysal Bank)
- Vaneeza Ahmad (Model & Entrepreneur)
- Bee Gul (Writer)
- Umair Jaffar (CEO IPAC) etc
The list of mentors includes well known names like:
- Kiran Khan (Golden Girl of Pakistan)
- Adnan Siddiqui (TV Actor)
- Zeb Bangash (Musician)
- Hasina Moin (Writer)
- Rahat Kazmi (TV & Theatre Actor)
- Nadia Hussain (Model & Makeup Artist) and many more
The process is simple and engaging. PRIDE will be opening public nominations and after input from the public, this data will be put on the portal after screening. The names will be shared with a Jury Member and the winner, in this case an unsung hero, will be connected to a mentor or partner organisation.
The mentors and partner organizations will help the winner in achieving their goals in the best possible way. The whole idea is to help talent shine and enable individuals to come forward and do their best for the society with the help of experienced mentors.
