Microsoft took time out today to announce its cheapest Windows Phone to date, with the unveiling of the Lumia 435 and Lumia 532. The former, we’ve been told costs about $80 while the better-of-the-two model costs around $94.
Microsoft Lumia 435:
The Lumia 435 comes with a 4″ LCD display with WVGA (800 x 480) resolution, meaning a pixel density of 233 ppi. Other than that, you get a 1.2Ghz dual-core processor with Snapdragon 200 chipset. There’s also 1 GB worth RAM and 8 GB storage, expandable by 128 GB via microSD card slot. If that’s short, you also get 30 GB free OneDrive storage.
On the back lies a 2 mp fixed-focus camera with 480p video recording at 30fps. There’s also a VGA camera at the front. A 1,560 mAh battery powers the phone for up to 21 hours of 2G talktime. Talking of 3G, speeds of up to 42.2 Mbps are supported, which is actually quite impressive.
The OS running is Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim update. As a part of the package, you also get the Office Suite, OneNote, Outlook, Lumia Camera app, Here+ and built-in Skype integration. It will be available in bright orange, bright green, white and black in February 2015.
Microsoft Lumia 532:
The Lumia 532 is more high-end than 435, as evident by the naming series. It comes with the same 4″ display with 800 x 480 resolution, which could seem strange. The internals, 1.2Ghz quad-core processor with Snapdragon 200 chipset, 1 GB RAM and 8 GB worth storage is also quite same (bar those two extra cores).
At the back is a 5 megapixel camera. The front adorns a VGA shooter. The same 1,560 mAh battery powers the phone. The phone runs on Windows Phone 8.1 and comes with the same software goodies as the lower-end model. The Lumia 532 will also be available in the same portfolio of covers.

Now Microsoft is looking serious! If Lumia 532 is really priced at 9,400 then it will be a tough competitor to android phones in the same range!
