HP has announced a new set of laptops targeting students and budget conscious consumers. The new models include the Envy and Pavilion series and both have gotten a makeover which gives them high-end looks and features. Pavilion x360 convertible laptops are the cheapest in the convertible design while the Envy is a slightly more premium offering from HP.
HP laptops have always been big on entertainment centered features and HP has replaced its deal with Beats Audio with a new partnership with Bang and Olufsen for audio fine-tuning and better quality sound systems in the laptops. New Pavilion and Envy series laptops feature B&O Play or B&O premium branding for its audio features.
HP Pavilion x360
HP Pavilion x360 is an 11-inch convertible notebook which features a 360-degree geared hinge, like the Spectre x360, that gives sturdier rotation and allows the laptop to be used in four modes called traditional clamshell laptop, Entertainment mode for movies and video chatting, tent mode for touch-optimized usage and tablet mode for a complete tablet like touch capabilities. The new hardware consists of an updated 11-inch IPS display and a fanless Core M Intel processor.
The series is now joined by a 13-inch version which starts with Intel Core i3 series processors and an optional Full HD IPS screen. The 11-incher get more than 8 hours’ worth of battery life while the 13-inch version is rated to last close to 11 hours of usage on battery.
Both models are available in a wider variety of colour option and will go on retail starting May 13. Pavilion x360 11-inch starts at $409 while 13-inch version starts at $529.
HP Pavilion Series
HP has also released basic Pavilion models lacking the 360 degree rotation. The series contains models ranging from 14 to 17 inch displays. All models start with the Core i3 series processors or AMD A10 CPUs. The plastic unibody laptops also feature the classic removable batteries, optical drives and also provide the option of having Full HD touch or non-touch displays. The series starts at $479 and comes with seven different youthful color options.
HP Envy x360
The Envy x360 features a slightly more premium design and sports a brushed aluminium cover and backlit keyboard. The basic model comes with a 1366×768 display powered by a Core i5 CPU joined by 4GB of RAM. It also comes with a 500 GB Hard disk. Users will be able to choose Full HD display, better internal specs and the option to have a 256GB SSD instead of the HDD. Envy x360 comes with all the portability features found in the Pavilion series. The series starts at $679 and goes up to $899 for the top model. The battery is slated to last close to 9 hours.
