Telenor Tops Consumer Complaints’ Chart During 2014

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has said that it received most consumer complaints against Telenor Pakistan as compared to all other cellular mobile operators during January 2014 to December 2014.

PTCL also topped the charts for consumer complaints in fixed line category.

PTA said that it received a total of 24,409 complaints during 2014 against mobile phone companies, while one third of these were against Telenor Pakistan alone.

According to details made available by Nabiha Mehmood, Director Consumer Complaints at PTA, during a capacity building workshop for journalists, a total of 8,274 complaints were registered against Telenor Pakistan.

Mobilink stood second with 4,717 complaints, while Ufone remained third in consumer complaints with 4,600 cases.

4,372 complaints were registered against Zong while 2,446 Waid consumers reached out to PTA against their operator.

Consumer complaints against PTCL stood at 14,514.

Nabiha Mehmood, Director Consumer Complaints, PTA, explained that telecom consumers initially register their grievances with respective service providers. Millions of such complaints are settled at service provide level, but those disgruntled customers who don’t get satisfied with their service providers reach out to PTA with their complaints.

Ms. Nabiha said that PTA was able to resolve 99.98 percent of complaints during the year 2014 that were registered with authority.

PTA said that majority of complaints against cellular mobile operators were about misuse of services (wrong numbers), illegal practices, verification issues, MNP related issues, quality of service issues and matters relating to billing.

Complaints against PTCL were mostly about fault in telephone lines, QoS issues and about provision of services.

    • Uzair Farooqi

      Visit Pta.gov.pk

  • Tanweer

Telenor wasted my 5 weeks just by saying that they’re going to resolve my complain going to resolve my complain & so, zong never ever replied, finally I’m happy with mobilink.

    • Abid Saleem

You are right. Zong Never Reply. Zong is wrong no in this regard. You can get very good telenor customer care in rawalpindi if you have reference in mall road. I officially launch complaint with telenor but they have nothing to say. Telenor is not Tel Not

  • Abid Saleem

Telenor is now Tel Not in terms of customer care. Response in franchises and CSC is like WAPDA, WASA offices

  • Abdul Basit

in future telenor.com.pk move to telenor.gov.pk

Telenor just deserve such bad laurels! It couldn’t improve its coverage in G-10/1, Islamabad almost since starting its service nor could ensure uninterrupted 3G services. Although customer service is better than all other operators, however, complaining is of no use since complaints are not resolved! Complaining against Telenor with PTA is of no use either since they are most probably more concerened with their licence fees then customer satisfaction! After getting fed up i finally got peace of mind after mnp of my no! I would thank pta for this service though!

    • Abid Saleem

Telenor is only working for profit and grabbing money from user pocket. Service charges etc all introduced by telenor in Pakistan. Network quality also went drastically down after network swap with ZTE eqpt. Soon we will see it behind warid on graph.

      • Mubashir

Totally agree with u brother! Can we expect PTA to notice these Telenor issues? Warid is way better since they atleast provide good coverage in covered areas! Telenor is only interested in show off as the largest 3G operator with no concern for ensuring quality of coverage! Is PTA really watching?

  • Taha

Why people dont use Warid as their primary number?! One of the great service in Pakistan. Warid THE Best!

    • BadarUI

People prefer cheap products. They want everything free..

    • Tayyab Jee

Kbi apny ird gird dekhien k kitni ghurbat hai? Warid costs too much.. telenor se hamari all network 2paisa/sec baat ho jati hai so ham to khush hain

  • BadarUI

Telenor have worst sms system in Pakistan. Unable to recieve messages on time.

  • BadarUI

But telenor have best 3G service in karachi as comparebto 10 Mhz Mobilink

    • Expensive packages

      • BadarUI

Not too much expensive in case of other operators

  • Bitter Chocolate

Hardly a surprise considering the fact they opted for ZTE – the worst in infrastructure.
