Best IT Innovation Awards 2015 Now Open for Industry and Academia

As a national level contest, Best Innovation Awards (BITA) identifies and promotes new ideas and advancements in IT. It is a competition organized under the umbrella of Frontiers of Information Technology (FIT) conference (slated for December) that serves as a platform for discussing applications and implications of modern tech relevant to Pakistan’s needs. The upcoming BITA 2015 now encourages the thinkers and innovators among you to bring your ideas and possibly get rewarded for them.

Who can apply?

BITA welcomes students and professionals associated with the industry so long as they are Pakistani nationals or are serving Pakistan at the time. Any product/project that already holds an award from any other agency or previously presented at BITA will not be eligible. Though, BITA funded products and projects are not kept from seeking grants and awards on other platforms.

What are the award categories?

There are two award categories planned for BITA 2015: Industry and Academia. The former identifies such professionals belonging to the industry who have significantly contributed to the advancement of IT with their services in the past 12 months. The contribution must be so significant that it should have an impact on the local industry or international research.

Academia category accounts for contributions of students towards the advancement and development of IT. It is befitting of students who have a knack for sighting IT problems as opportunities for them to learn and develop solutions in order to assist those around them. In addition to being either a Pakistani national or currently serving Pakistan, participants of both categories must have solid proof of concept.

What rewards are on offer?

Winners can win PKR 1,000,000 in each category.

What are the deadlines?

Proposals must be submitted no later than September 21, 2015. The announcements of winners will then take place on November 15, 2015. Finally, the presentation and final evaluation of the proposal will be held from December 14, 2015 to December 16, 2015 at FIT 2015.
