The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has confirmed that the SEA-ME-WE 5 (SMW5) international submarine cable system has been restored, with internet traffic returning to normal across Pakistan.
According to PTA officials, the restoration of the SMW5 cable has resolved the internet disruption that had affected users since Thursday night.
Following the restoration, all internet traffic has normalized, and services are operating as usual.
The disruption was caused by a fault in the SMW5 submarine cable, which affected a significant portion of Transworld Associates’ (TWA) international IP transit capacity. During the outage, internet traffic was rerouted through alternate international links to minimise service degradation while TWA coordinated with the SMW5 Consortium to restore connectivity.
PTA worked closely with TWA and other stakeholders throughout the incident, monitoring the situation to support the earliest possible restoration of services.
With the SMW5 cable now fully operational, PTA officials have confirmed that internet services across the country have stabilized and traffic has returned to normal.

where is the good news in this?
Pakistan mein ye rang baazi lagi rehti,
Jesey koi masla hua, saath hi internet kharab
Kamal hai, sirf pakistan mein hi kyun hota hai?
PTA se log bezaar, govt se bezaar…
Yeh Pakistan ki good news hoti hai 😂
Our submarine cables are down more than they are up. This is not good news because within the next couple of weeks it will go down again. Shame on this government for their incompetence
What govt has to do with Submarine Cables? They are being managed by private companies not under govt control
Governments do set standards. Unfortunately we are beggars.
It is amusing when firewall tweaking and experimentation is now called submarine cable down/fault par course for public consumption. Incompetent starred duffers (almashoor (in)Competent Authority) occupying offices requiring competence and technical prowess.
