Careem, a recent edition to Pakistan’s technosociety, is an app based chauffeur driven car service in the MENA Region. What is so great about this app is its flexibility in payment methods, by cash or credit card, and prompt door service.
Apart from this, the chauffer driven car service gives you the option between booking your car at that instant or at a later time. Even if you are stranded without data access, you can book their service via their customer care call center. You can download this app on Android’s play store and iOS App Store for your mobile phones. They are currently operating in Lahore, where they are offering chauffer services with Toyota Corolla’s.
Recently, Careem hosted an inter-college scavenger hunt in Lahore. The basic idea of Careem Scavenger Hunt was to engage young students so they can experience firsthand the cab service and also to bring a fun event for Careem drivers called “Captains”. The hunt comprised of teams booking Careem cars through their app, and guessing locations based on the clues provided to them. After calling their rides, they had to take a picture at every destination in the background as proof of the location.
This eccentric activity was designed for one of their targeted customer groups, giving the students a good platform to engage and meet the Team Careem. Careem in Pakistan operates with the idea “act global, think local”. Although their operations are in tandem with global practices, their execution relies on local thought process. This scavenger hunt was a way to connect the heritage of Lahore city with the younger generation, telling a unique story of the city with its cultural and historical landmarks.
Amongst the participants were 6 Teams, comprising of 4 members each, who competed against each other for the Winner and Runner-up prizes. The participating universities were:
The clues were actual locations spread over Lahore, worded with twists such as:
I am a house where free-thinkers and writers who have served the nation come to get served their favorite drink. The answer was Pak Tea House.
LUMS took home the winning cash prize of Rs. 20,000/- , whereas, PIFD took away the runner up cash prize of Rs. 10,000/-.
Careem in Pakistan aims to change the perception of car services with its different payment methods, transparency in bookings, around the clock helpline, and comfortable rides from location A to location B. Their focus has not only been to provide transportation, but of premium, prompt, and consumer comfort driven service.
