Hacks/Hackers Launches Islamabad Chapter to Bridge Gap Between Journalists & Developers

In the digital age, no profession exists in a vacuum. Technology has allowed the crossover of many fields to create new and exciting possibilities. And it’s the junction between journalists and developers that Hacks/Hackers aims to explore with the launch of its Islamabad chapter last week.

Hacks/Hackers Pakistan is a community of technologists, social scientists, designers and journalists learning and collaborating with each other to create data-driven tools and media. The Islamabad chapter’s first meetup was held at the Bytes4All offices and hosted journalists and developers from the twin cities.

The event featured a presentation on the power of data based journalism and how journalists and developers could collaborate to produce engaging stories. An open floor led way to discussions on the challenges of compiling and organizing data and the need to promote knowledge of how technology can aid traditional journalism.

The Islamabad chapter aims to hold an event every month in the form of talks, trainings and hackathons. You can check out Hacks/Hackers on Twitter and Facebook here.
