Oppo Unveils Oppo R9 and R9 Plus With Monstrous Camera Combo

Oppo has always wanted to be the first one to increase pixels, whether it comes to screen resolutions or cameras. This time the company has announced Oppo R9 and R9 Plus, a camera combo that’s surely a first on a smartphone. Oppo’s both upper midrange phones come with a 16MP front camera. Take that selfie shooters! No need for using the back camera for high quality selfies.

Oppo R9

Both smartphones share the same design language, but come with plenty of changes under the hood. The R9 comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display. The screen sits in a 6.6mm thin aluminium body with 1.66mm side bezels.

Oppo R9 is powered by a Mediatek Helio P10 which comes with 4 Cortex A53 cores clocked at 2.0GHz and the other four clocked at 1.0GHz. There’s 4GB of Ram and 64GB of internal storage on board. There’s a microSD card slot with support for up to 128GB using a hybrid slot (which can also be used as a second SIM slot). 4G LTE support is also built-in.

The most interesting bit is the front camera, which has a more high-res and brighter sensor than the rear one. The front camera uses a Samsung made 16MP ISOCELL sensor while the rear camera uses a 5-element 13MP Sony IMX298 sensor, like the Huawei Mate 8. The front camera has a field-of-view of 78.1 degrees while the rear camera has a FoV of 80.6 degrees.

The phone runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and carries a mediocre 2,850 mAh battery unit. There’s VOOC Flash Charge support as well. It is priced at Rs. 45,000/- (approx.) while availability info remains to be detailed.

  • Price Little Bit High
Oppo R9 Price Tag Required Max 35,000
Oppo R9+ Price Tag Required Max 45,000

and i inform to all Oppo R9 and R9 Plus is Copy of Iphone 6+
Operating System is Android 5.1 But Color OS 3.0 its Same as iOS
look like a Iphone Completely :)

    • The price tag is a bit justified by the fact that this is the FIRST ever phone released to support super VOOC charging (charging from 0 to 100% in 15 minutes (on a 2500mah battery that is))
But yea, even i agree that it could have incorporated a better processor at that kind of price.

      • > charging from 0 to 100% in 15 minutes

Hmm. Are you sure? I briefly owned the previous model, the R7 Plus, and I can vouch that its 4100mAh battery attained about 70% charge in around 20 minutes with the OEM charger and cable. The remaining 30%, however, took almost twice as long. 15 minutes for a full charge sounds too good to be true. I’ll have to see it to believe it.

        • Atleast thats what the news says.
Super VOOC is a recently invented technology by oppo (announced just a few months ago) and according to the news, it is capable to charge a phone (having a 2500mAh battery) to 100% in 15 minutes. In fact, they even showed it off in a keynote (or atleast thats what i guess it was) and it literally charged the device under 15 minutes!
The oppo R9 and R9 plus are the first phones to support this technology.
Considering that the R9 plus has a bigger battery, (4100mAh) it should charge in about 25 minutes or less if I am correct.

          • I’m sure it has to do with the power brick and cable, not the phone. All their chargers for the past two years have had the VOOC label on them. And they cannot be used to charge any other phones either.

            • Nope, nothing to do with the charger (as far as I know).
This is “SUPER” VOOC and it has something to do with the battery itself . They added some new substances to it to make it charge faster if i remember correctly.
Anyways, as long as we get a faster charge,I dont think a regular consumer would care what exact compounds or other tricks the manufacturer is using to make it happen .Don’t you think… ;)

              • It’s the entire setup: charger+special 7 pin cable+battery circuit in the phone. Take any one of these out of the equation and it will fall back to regular charging. Check out the YouTube video watch?v=lrsK6F7aB0o for more info.

Also, this phone doesn’t feature SuperVOOC, just regular VOOC like the previous models. None of the phones do in fact. Oppo just demostrated a prototype and MWC and apparently the technology is not yet ready for primetime.
