Whatsapp Will Soon Allow You To Edit and Delete Your Sent Messages

Whatsapp is adding new features which will bring relief to careless typists. A beta version of the IM service indicates that with this new update, users will be able to edit or delete already sent messages. The feature is already available on Skype, Discord and other messaging platforms.

Currently you can only delete your sent messages on your end, meaning they stay the same way on the other person’s device unless they delete it as well. After this update rolls out, you will not need to worry about embarrassing typos or accidentally sent messages.

This news comes from the WABetaInfo Twitter channel, the most reliable source of early Whatsapp news and speculation. The source claims to have discovered the feature in the Whatsapp 2.17.1.869 beta build for iOS.

Delete Message Feature Demonstrated

A video tweeted by WABetaInfo shows the deletion process in action. If you want to delete a sent message on both ends, hold the desired message long enough until the options for that message appear on your screen, select the “revoke” option and the message will be deleted on both ends.

The edit option works the same way, hold down the message you want to edit and select the “edit” option to make amends in the message content.

Do keep in mind that these features haven’t rolled yet and these options will only be made available you when you receive the update.

Although this news comes from an iOS build, it is highly likely that the features will also roll out for Android later on as well.
