Top 5 Google Chrome Extensions That Everyone Needs to Use

Google Chrome is one of the most widely used web browsers in the world. That is all due to its fast performance, neat and clean interface and also the ability to sync with your mobile devices without any hassle involved.

But that’s not all. Chrome also benefits from tons of browser extensions that are available in the Chrome Web Store.

So, without much further ado, here’s a list of top 5 Chrome Extensions that you should be using!

1. Session Buddy – Save Your Tabs and Browsing Sessions

Without a doubt, my most used and favorite extension of the list is the Session Buddy. What it does is that it saves your current session or the tabs you have currently opened. It is extremely useful in the cases that your browser might crash or if you are on a desktop PC and WAPDA decides to just mess with you by turning off the power.

Session Buddy will save your current session temporarily for a few hours but you can also organize them manually with different titles for easier recall. It even allows you to customize, export, and import session lists with ease.

You can download Session Buddy from here.

2. Adblock – Take Care of Those Annoying Ads

We all know ads are annoying and no one really wants them. Logical placement and a limited number of ads are ok but some websites just use them too much and ruin the experience for us. In order to solve that problem, I present to you AdBlock.

Having this extension is nothing short of a blessing. It is easy to see why this the most used and most popular Google Chrome extension available on the store. It removes all sorts of clumsy advertisements and even work on those pop-ups and animated ads. Once you get used to an ad-free experience, you can’t go back.

You can, however, allow some websites to still display ads and not get blocked. After all, some publishers are doing great work out there and to continue to enjoy our favorite sites, the least we can do is disable ad-blocking for them.

You can get AdBlock from here.

3. Pushbullet – Easily Share Stuff Between PC and Smartphone

Think of it as a way to bring your Android phone to your desktop. With the Pushbullet extension, you can read your SMS on your browser, receive your notifications, send links or files to and from your devices, sync messages across all your devices and even remotely access files on any device that is linked with Pushbullet.

This extension might need some extra steps to get into working order. You’ll need to download the Pushbullet app on your phone. set it up and then install this extension. But once you are done doing all that and you get to actually using the extensions, it’s all worth it.

You can get Pushbullet from here.

4. LastPass: Password Manager – Never Forget a Password Again

LastPass is the most widely used password manager. It has a desktop client, an app for both iOS and Android and now finally an extension for Google Chrome.

This extension is a solution to those who have a huge number of passwords to remember and manage. While setting it up, all you have to do is set a master password and that’s it. After that all you need to do is remember that master password and LastPass will take care of the rest. You can add a website to the vault, provide the username and password for that site and save it. LastPass will keep it secured and will be only be accessible once you enter the master password. Apart from that, you can also save secure files and notes of your own.

You can get LastPass from here.

5. Save to Pocket – Read Your Favorite Articles Offline

Pocket is an offline reading app that is available on multiple platforms. It saves an online copy of a website on your device so you can read it later if you have no internet connection.

The Save to Pocket extension helps in that regard. This extension lets you save websites or links that are currently opened on your Pocket account. Simply press the Save to Pocket icon in the extension menu and you can save it on on any of your devices. It will then automatically sync and you’ll be able to view it afterwards.

You can get Save to Pocket from here.

  • One extension is a missing that Propakistani team really needs that is Grammarly that shows you common grammar mistakes even you’re posting to Facebook, commenting on Disqus or writing an article online anywhere. I use its premium version that is better than a teacher.

  • What a chay writer. “Adblock” is a scam, by a scam artist. It gives unique identity to every user so they can be served personalized ads aka tracked. “Ad block plus” was sold to the devil i.e. ad publishers. The only sane choice is Ublock which happens to be the best as well.
And, why add the other 4 extensions? Chrome already has better functionalities. Cherry on top is integration with Google’s own Android.
Someone should analyze quality of content being posted on PP. Please dont turn such a good blog into tabloid. Honestly, if charlatans and clueless inepts get published, it becomes all the more important for me to write for PP myself. Alas, just done have time to spare.

        • Yes an open source, free app that will get rid of all ads. The only drawback i found was that you can’t even click on shopping ads in a Google search. But turn it off to click on legitimate ads. Oh, its not in Playstore, Google doesn’t like it.

          • AdAway is an open source ad blocker for Android using the hosts file.
Requires root in order to modify the system /etc/hosts file.

Check the XDA Thread for allowing it to work while preserving systemless root installs. (From the site) if an app comes from XDA, you can trust it. I am a member and we develop all the apps pretty much.
