Xiaomi Partners with Smartlink for Launch in Pakistan

Smartlink Technologies has partnered with Xiaomi for the company’s official launch in Pakistan. This was confirmed via an advertisement in national newspapers. Wildly popular among tech enthusiasts, Xiaomi is known for affordable and high quality products.

In addition to smartphones, Eco products will also be launched which include Power banks, Mi VR, Mi Band 2 and Car Charger. All the products and the mobile phones will be sold at competitive prices along with official warranty, according to sources.

PTA Approves, Will Come With Official Warranty

Xiaomi was supposed to launch in Pakistan in January but various issues including those with distribution partners have caused unexpected delays.

They got the necessary approvals from PTA back in December including type approvals as well as an NOC for selling and operating phones in Pakistan. The company also passed the NTISB security test.

Xiaomi Mi 5 and Xiaomi Mi Max approvals have been obtained and they are expected to be available at launch. Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and Redmi Note 4’s approvals were in process but there have been no updates yet as to their outcome.

Reason for Delays

Aside from distribution partner issues, another delay could be due to Xiaomi’s Head of International Business, Hugo Barra, leaving the company. Hugo was the driving force behind the company’s international expansion. He recently left to join Facebook’s VR division in Silicon Valley.
