A few months ago, Lahore was added in the Safe City Project after Islamabad when Huawei Pakistan won the bid for the project in Punjab.
In efforts to ensure foolproof security across the province, the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) is now also implementing its state of the art Integrated Computerised Command and Control System in six major cities, The Express Tribune reported.

The Punjab Safe City Authority is an initiative that strives to provide public safety and security in Punjab. The project uses high-grade surveillance cameras with facial recognition software. The cameras are connected via 4G technology which allows them to transmit live footage to control rooms where officials can monitor video feeds from various cameras.
These camera can prove to be helpful in controlling the crime rate in the province and also help law-enforcement agencies monitor criminal activities.
As mentioned earlier, the project is expanding to 6 more cities in Punjab. The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 45 billion and it is expected to be completed by March 2018.

Moreover, all 6 of these Integrated Command, Control and Communication Centres (PPIC3) will be interconnected.
Furthermore, the proposal for the project also states that the PSCA will also introduce a control and command system that will include incident management, geographic information system, resource management system etc.
Public places, intersections, highways and iconic buildings will be under surveillance 24/7. And objective of the Safe City Project is not only to provide safety to citizens but also improve the management of police resources, traffic management and reduce road accidents.
As far as the traffic management goes, the traffic will be continuously monitored and violations will be recorded on video which will help in identifying the individual via reading the vehicle number plate. Such increased surveillance will also help reduce traffic accidents. Authorities predict that the current average of 39,000 accidents will be reduced to 15,000.
