Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has introduced a digital driving licence verification system, allowing licences to be authenticated instantly through a QR code.
According to a statement, Director of Transport Hassan Abid said the QR code printed on driving licences will link users to an online portal where the licence holder’s details can be instantly verified.
He said the facility will also allow citizens to store their electronic driving licence (e-DL) on their mobile phones. The e-driving licence card will be legally valid and accepted across the country.
Abid added that the QR code-based authentication system has been launched to remove the need for motorists to carry a physical driving licence card.
The Directorate of Transport has also been assigned a revenue target of Rs. 550 million from driving licence fees during the current fiscal year.
