ASUS Debuts One of The Thinnest Portable Monitors in The World

ASUS has got you covered if you are on the lookout for a thin and portable monitor which doesn’t break your bank.

The new ZenScreen MB16AC looks like a well-designed monitor with a built-in stand and optional smart case which will set you backĀ $249 once its available in July.

Thin and Lightweight

The ZenScreen comes with a 15.6-inch Full HD 1080p (1080 x 1920) IPS panel on the front, in a design which is only 8 mm thick and weighs just under a kilo (780 grams), making it one of the most portable displays on the market. Pixel density on the ZenScreen Ā is around 141 pixels per inch.

The smart case on ASUS’s latest can allow you to use the ZenScreen in either portrait or landscape modes with automatic switching, when it is not being protected from dust/environmental damage.

It has a contrast ratio of 800:1 as well as a refresh rate of 60 Hz. On its own it sounds like your average monitor with the added bonus of portability.

Brightness can reach a max of 220 cd/mĀ². It is said to come with wider viewing angles (thanks to its IPS panel) and has a blue light filter with controls to help you recalibrate the monitor under low-light conditions.

One Port to Rule Them All

The ZenScreen uses USB-C to be connected to an external device and uses a single cable for both power and video outlets. DisplayPort and USB-A connections are both supported through a dongle and separate drivers.

Power consumption goes up toĀ 8W. ASUS’s Flicker-free technology is TUV Rheinland-certified to have less obstructions than usual, allowing a more comfortable and distraction-free experience.

Gaming Options

There are a few gaming centered options such as a crosshair and a timer, as well as Alignment Grid and photo mode.

As mentioned earlier, the monitor will be available in July for $249, though, in some places it could be made available much earlier than that.
