Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has acquired three new, narrow bodied Airbus A-320 aircraft.
The aircraft were acquired by the airline for three months through a wet lease with Viet Jet- a Vietnamese airline.
Airbus A-320 has a capacity of 150 passengers and an overall length of 37.57 metres. The plane will be used for domestic as well as international routes as told by Mashhood Tajwar, the spokesman for PIA.

The newly acquired Airbus A320 and the Boeing 777 aircraft, which was added recently, may also have contributed to the recent profits made by the airline.
The airline made a profit of approximately Rs. 2.83 billion, and that was just in the first quarter of the year.

The turnaround is visible because PIA has increased its fleet size from 22 aircraft in 2013 to 35 planes at present and plans are under way to increase the size to 42 by the end of this year,
Another recent development is that the Boeing 777 has begun its venture of international flights.
Since the inception of the airline in 1955, PIA has gone through a series of ups and downs. From its incredible beginning to its continual downfall until recently, the airline now seems to be getting back on track.
As told by Mr Khan the loss of Rs. 27.45 billion from 2013-2014 was reduced to Rs. 8.62 billion from 2014-2015.
Strict measures were taken to introduce a culture of accountability which led to 302 fake degree holders being sacked.
The PIA Chairman Irfan Ilahi encouraged the workers and congratulated them for their achievements. He said that the airline would continue to provide for its passengers.
