A state-of-the-art tennis court was inaugurated in Lahore on Tuesday by the tennis star Aisam ul Haq. He also pledged to train young tennis players at the new Tennis facility, which is located at the Punjab Sports Board at Nishtar Park.
The US Open Grand Slam finalist expressed his pleasure at bringing a modern tennis facility in Lahore, He said that this will help take the game of tennis in Pakistan a long way.
Talking about the law and order situation in Pakistan, he hoped that the situation will continue to get better so that international tennis stars can visit Pakistan and play here which will give a big boost to the sport in the country.
Aisam praised the efforts of the Director General (DG) PSB on this occasion. He said that in his tennis career he hasn’t seen a tennis court of this standard in Pakistan and was very pleased to see that the Board is taking extra initiatives in this regard.
Conversing with the media, DG Sports Punjab Zulfiqar Ahmed Ghumman said that the whole country is proud of Aisam’s accomplishments and called him a national legend. He also announced that an international standard tennis academy will soon be opened to promote the sport further in a bid to attract foreign tennis stars.
Ghumman highlighted the other achievements of the Board and said that we will continue the work to promote sports in Punjab. He also said that the Board will be working closely with Aisam to further enhance the tennis courts.
Prior to this, Aisamul Haq had a meeting with DG SBP Zulfiqar Ahmed Ghumman at his office. Head of Cricket Academies, Zaheer Abbas and Director Sports Muhammad Anees Sheikh were also present. Aisam was given a souvenir after the meeting.
During the visit to the Sports Complex Aisam’s mother was alongside him.
Responding to a lighter question from the press, Aisam said that he has no intentions of marrying yet but he will definitely inform the media if something comes up in this regard.
