PTA Launches Mobile-Friendly Urdu Version of Its Website

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has launched a new official bilingual mobile responsive website which is also compliant to the universal web accessibility standards for the persons with disabilities.

The new Urdu version of PTA website would contain the same contents of the English version converted into simple Urdu language with similar layout and design. The aim of newly re-designed website is to provide content accessibility in Urdu language for which Urdu ccTLD (پی-ٹی-اے.حکومت.پاکستان) has been registered for the facilitation of general public.

In the new website, statistical data of telecom indicators have also been re-shaped and user-friendly graphical layout has been introduced for easy navigation of the key indicators data. PTA believes that the new re-designed website would help in telecommunication information dissemination to the people of Pakistan.

PTA’s Urdu Language Website

As per the best international practices, the web accessibility standards for persons with disabilities have been introduced in the website so that special people can also use the website without any hassle.

The primary focus behind the launch of new website is to provide easy access for content retrieval to people with disabilities for which input from the PWDs have also been incorporated. For the facilitation of people with disabilities, an interactive toolbar has been introduced which includes features like text re-sizing, text-to-speech plug-in, magnifier and color contrast.

It is important to mention here that Special Talent Exchange Program (STEP) and web accessibility experts provided assistance and support to PTA for the endorsement of web accessibility standards.

It may be mentioned that, PTA believes that the electronic access of information will improve the productivity and efficiency of persons with disabilities. This would ultimately contribute to economic activities and bring benefits to the country.

PTA is committed to promote freedom of expression and access to information in the greater public interest. Single source facilitation website developed by PTA has a theme ‘connecting the un-connected’ and to ensure access to content repository to information seekers from within and outside the country at one place.

  • They destroyed the complain registration and status checking mechanism

    Looks like a downgrade.

  • A very good effort to modernize its portal. More accessible and user friendly as compared to previous one. Some minor issues but hope they will fix them over the time.

  • It seems like this is the first website which is navigational by using tab and enter keys in keyboard even drop-down menus, I already forwarded it to my special students and they really like it, Amazing work PTA.

  • At last PTA updated the website ..it was very difficult to search something on their website before but now it’s very convenient .. they should add some more statistics in the form of indicators for researchers

  • Finally something good to look at, a much needed facelift. The title is a bit misleading, it’s a whole new website.

  • UI/UX of the website is much improved now the information is more readily accessible to the user great effort
