Xiaomi is back with successors to its popular Redmi 4 line. The new Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus differ in size and internals, though they share most of the specs. And as always, both are priced within the budget category.
Design and Display
The design on both phones is metal-based, available in Blue, Rose Gold, Black and Gold. Both feature lesser bezels than most other phones in their class as well.
The display on the Redmi 5 is a 5.7-inch IPS LCD panel, while the Plus version ups it to 6-inches. Both come with FHD+ resolution (2160 x 1080), and have 2:1 panels like the recent flagships.
Internals and storage
Redmi 5 comes with a Snapdragon 450 processor, with 2 or 3 GB RAM, along with corresponding 16 or 32 GB of expandable storage.
The Redmi 5 Plus on the other hand comes with Snapdragon 625 processor, with 3 or 4 GB RAM, as well as a corresponding 32 or 64 GB storage.
The OS you’ll find is Android 7.1.2 with MIUI 9.
Camera(s)
The camera setups on the two Redmi phones are the same, with a 12 MP rear camera with LED flash and 1080p video, along with a 5 MP shooter on the front.
Battery and Price
The Redmi 5 comes with a 3300 mAh battery, while its bigger sibling ups it to 4000 mAh. Xiaomi didn’t fast-charging though.
As for the price, the Redmi 5 will come for $120, while the Plus version starts at $150. Prices will, of course, vary in Pakistan.

NOT BEZEL-LESS
What is a bezel-less design?
“Electronics such as tablet computers and smartphones are increasingly moving toward a bezel-less design. The bezel serves to hold the screen in place, and perhaps also reduce unintentional inputs on a touch screen. However, newer designs are increasingly reducing the need for the former, while the latter problem can often be solved with software. For example, when the iPad mini was introduced, its thin bezel led Apple to adapt its software to ignore inputs in which a user is simply resting a finger on the screen.”
Hope it helps.
