Govt to Start First Ever National Industrial Innovation Survey

The first ever survey for National Industrial Innovation to design appropriate policies and strategies, leading towards improvement of quality of Pakistani products will be started from Punjab soon.

The survey, titled “First National Industrial Innovation Survey”, will be conducted by Pakistan Council for Science and Technology (PCST). For that purpose, PCST has been allocated an amount of Rs. 45.041 million.

According to a spokesperson from PCST, it is one of several projects approved with the efforts of PCST, and will be conducted over the duration of 24 months, which is expected to motivate firms to improve the quality of their products.

He said, the study would provide insight into the innovation process in the industrial sector of Pakistan, which would be useful for future planning and management for our industrial production.

In addition, this survey will have long term effects to boost our economy as well as foreign exchange earnings, he added.

It would also be a landmark step to achieve the target set under vision 2025, aimed to:

  • Increase export from $25 billion to $150 billion annually.
  • Become a part of 25 largest economies of the world leading to “upper middle income country” status.
  • Creating at least five global Pakistani brands.

He said the survey will also suggest policy measures and road map for nurturing new ideas in manufacturing sector to enhance its competitiveness in national and international market.
