As many as 2,000 Pakistani scholars will be sent to the best foreign universities during the next five years for doctoral studies under the supervision of Higher Education Commission (HEC).
An amount of Rs. 20.904 billion has been approved by the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) for Phase-III of the Overseas Scholarships Programme.
An HEC official told the media on Sunday that Phase-III of the scholarships programme envisages Ph.D. level training of 2,000 talented candidates across the country on open merit in selected fields.
He said that around 200 scholarships will be awarded to the students of MS/ MPhil in Engineering Technology such as in the fields of Civil Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electronics, Chemicals, Textile and so on to meet faculty requirement of the already established and newly proposed skill/ technical universities.
Under this programme, as many as 400 scholarships will be awarded every year for the next 5 years for these students.
These scholars will be sent to countries which have technologically advanced universities, the official added.
Even propakistani guys dont know the difference between engineering and technology! and engineer and technologist.
So what will pakistan get for this? Is there any commitment for these students to return after graduation?
Yes, the scholars will have to execute 5 yrs bond.
