Federal government has stared its search for new chairman of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA).
Lahore High Court (LHC) had nullified the appointment of Absar Alam as chairman of PEMRA. The court had also ordered the government to appoint a new PEMRA chief within the next 30 days.
Absar Alam stepped down from his post as chairman of PEMRA shortly after the Lahore High Court declared his appointment illegal.
The position is placed in MP-1 Grade in terms of Finance Division’s O.M. No. F.3 (2) R-4/2011, dated 14-07-2017 vis-a-vis salary package, perks and privileges.

As per the eligibility criteria, the prospective candidates should have the following qualifications and experience:
The selected candidate will act under the PEMRA Ordinance 2002 as mandated by PEMRA Amendment Act 2007 and PEMRA Rules 2009.
The selection of candidate will be made as per the procedure and guidelines contained in the relevant laws/orders of the government of Pakistan, read the relevant judgments of the superior judiciary.
