KP Govt Starts Issuing Driving Licenses to Transgender People

In an admirable move, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has started issuing driving licenses to transgender people in the province.

A total of 300 transgenders applied for the license out of which 15 have been cleared to get the license as of now.

SSP Traffic Yasir Khan distributed the licenses among those who qualified for it. The distribution ceremony was held in Peshawar.

Speaking at the ceremony, the SSP said;

300 transgender persons applied for driving licence. 15 transgender persons were licensed to drive, in the first phase, whereas the rest of applicants would be treated gradually.

For the same purpose, the SSP told, legislation is being done in policies of KPK government to facilitate transgenders. The policy will help in making public transportation friendly for transgenders. He further added that stern measures will be taken against those who treat transgenders unfairly, harass or overcharge them while availing public transport.

Take a first look at the license issued to the transgenders;

The move will help build the confidence of transgenders in the country and remove the differences of gender inequality. The SSP believes that every citizen should have equal rights and everyone can play their part in the development of Pakistan.

The license will further help the transgender community to find a respectable way of earning money.
