Sindh Government has declared April 4th as a provincial holiday to commemorate the 39th death anniversary of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
The notification states that other than essential services, all autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, local councils, and corporations under the provincial governments control will remain closed on the 4th of April, Wednesday.
The Government of Sindh has been pleased to declare 4th April, 2018 (Wednesday) as Public Holiday throughout the Province of Sindh, on the occasion of 39th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Ex-Prime minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, for all office, Autonomous, Semi-Autonomous Bodies, Corporations and Local Counciles under the Administrative Control of Government of Sindh except essential services.
Zulfikar Ali Bhutto is among the most influential Pakistani personalities who had an ambition to “rebuild confidence and rebuild hope for the future” in Pakistan. He belonged to a Muslim Arain family and was born in Sindh to Sir Shah Nawaz Bhutto – an influential landlord of his time.
Bhutto’s greatest achievement was drafting Pakistan’s first consensus constitution. He is also widely regarded as the main architect of 1973 Constitution. During his time in office, he conducted seven major amendments to Pakistan’s constitution. Moreover, his team spearheaded workers’ rights in Pakistan by bringing in minimum wage reforms.
ZAB was Pakistan’s fourth President (1971-1973), a former Prime Minister (1973-77), and founder of Pakistan’s People Party (PPP).
On 4th of April, 1979 Bhutto was hanged at Central Jail in Rawalpindi. He was buried in Village Cemetery at Garhi Khuda Baksh.
