Mobile Phone Imports Increase by 15% in First 9 Months of FY2017-18

Mobile phone imports witnessed a phenomenal growth of 14.99 percent in the first nine months (July-March) of 2017-18 reaching $603.075 million compared to $524.442 million during the same period of 2016-17 (July-March).

Mobile phone imports in March 2018, stood at $77.042 million increasing by 18.41 percent compared to $65.062 million in March 2017, and increased by 10.41 percent compared to $69.779 million in February 2018, revealed the latest data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

Overall, telecom imports saw an increase of over 10.09 percent during July-March 2017-2018 compared to the same period of last year. Total imports were recorded at $1.132 billion during this period compared to $1.028 billion in July-March 2016-17.

Telecom imports came in at $128.564 million in March 2018 and registered a 12.05 percent decline, as compared to $146.185 million during March 2017.

Other telecom apparatus import also witnessed a growth of over 4 percent in July-March 2017-18 as it stood at $529.001 million against $503.918 million during the same period last year.
