Aamir Liaquat is Back on TV After IHC Suspends PEMRA’s Ban

The notorious anchorperson, Dr. Aamir Liaquat Hussain is all set to make a comeback to TV yet again, however, he will not be continuing his Ramzan transmission on Bol TV. The move comes following Islamabad High Court’s ruling in favor of the religious scholar turned celebrity to appear on TV.

After Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority’s ban on Aamir Liaquat, he had challenged PEMRA’s decision in the high court.

Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb ruled that PEMRA does not hold the authority to ban a celebrity, however, it has the authority to take the specific broadcast off-air.

Earlier on Friday, PEMRA imposed a 30-day ban on the show as well as Aamir Liaquat based on the violation of Section 20(b), (c) (f) of the PEMRA Ordinance 2002 Act. PEMRA further warned about a more strict action, including, but not limited to, revocation of license or suspension in case of further violation of PEMRA rules.

Aamir Liaquat had left his show after a heated exchange with one of the religious scholars on the sectarian basis. PEMRA found his actions to be hurting the sentiments of different sects, thereby slapping a one-month ban on the host.

  • This is totally wrong. Numerous times courts have turned over PEMRA decision despite being the fact they totally make sense. Now this clown is again out.
