Massive Fire in Itwar Bazar in Islamabad Wipes Out 200 Stalls

A heavy fire has engulfed the Itwar Bazar at Peshawar Mor, Islamabad, resulting in thick clouds of smoke that can be seen from miles away.

Till the filing of this report, the authorities have yet to put out the fire. Reports say that as many as 200 stalls selling garments have been torched. The cause as to how the fire erupted in the first place is yet to be determined.

There is no word on whether the rescue teams have reached the area under fire.

From the visuals, it seems that rescue operations are underway to put out the fire. A heavy traffic jam on Kashmir Highway can be seen as well.

Update

The cause of the fire hasn’t been determined yet as the fire erupted around 1.30 pm. However, there are reports that loud bangs were heard as the UPS and generator batteries exploded amid the fire. There were no causalities reported as there weren’t many people present in the shopping market. Over 50 shops that mainly includes leather and clothing stores were completely destroyed by the fire.

The fire department has sent 6 firefighting trucks to put out the fire. Rescue 1122 and Quick Response Force are also present at the scene trying to prevent the fire from spreading further.
