Interim Govt Allocates Rs. 400 Million for Women’s Campus of Bannu University

The interim Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved Rs 400 million to build a women campus at Bannu University.

The Bannu University of Science and Technology (BUST) will be set up with the assistance from the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIK).

BUST Vice Chancellor and caretaker Chief Minister Dost Muhammad Khan held a meeting in which the decision was approved. The CM also directed to establish a BUST campus in North Waziristan as well.

GIK will provide training to the staff of the newly-established university along with setting up a department of international standards. Dost Muhammad also stressed on promoting entrepreneurship and focusing on research-based education.

The New Campus

Vice-Chancellor of BUST gave a detailed presentation on the university, explaining its goals and the importance of women’s education. The CM assured that all necessary support regarding the financial and administrative matters will be provided to the university.

The CM also announced an irrigation and water supply system for BUST’s Bannu campus. About the finances, the caretaker chief minister told that the government has contacted the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and other banks to fund the educational projects in the province.

Dost Muhammad also directed the Higher Education secretary to form a uniform education system for the province. He further directed the secretary to restore the education system of the newly-merged districts in KPK.
