Xiaomi Launches the Slimmer and More Powerful Mi Notebook Pro 2

Laptops seem to be the latest category where Xiaomi is looking to expand its capabilities. Its latest product is the new Mi Notebook Pro 2, which is a fairly capable machine that comes with an impressively thin design.

The IPS display at the front is a 15.6-inch panel with narrow bezels and an 81-percent screen-to-body ratio, which results in a svelte look. It also comes with 72% coverage of NTSC gamut and maxes out at 300 nits of brightness.

Under the hood, the laptop comes with a choice of either Core i5-8250U or Core i7-8550U processors, 8 or 16 GB of DDR4 RAM, as well as 256 GB of SSD storage. As for graphics, those needs are handled by GTX 1050 Max-Q graphics card with 4 GB of VRAM.

There’s a backlit keyboard under the hood, as well as USB-C, 3 USB 3.0, HDMI 2.0, Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi ac, and headphone jack for connectivity.

Pricing for the machine starts at $920 for the base Core i5 model, while the amped-up Core i7 version costs $1110.

Mi Gaming Laptop

For people who require more gaming power, there’s the beefed-up version of the Mi Gaming laptop, also introduced with the Mi Notebook Pro 2. It comes with an even more powerful hexa-core Core i7-8750H processor with 16 GB of DDR4 RAM, with 256 GB SSD + 1 TB HDD.

The biggest difference between the Notebook Pro 2 and Mi Gaming laptop comes in graphics with the Gaming laptop featuring the GTX 1060 GPU, though, GTX 1050 versions are also available for cheap.

It is priced at 8999 yuan, or north of $1300 in the Chinese market for its flagship variant.
