PTA Starts Restoring Internet Services in Azad Kashmir

Internet services have started returning to Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) with the federal government beginning a phased restoration of connectivity starting from Mirpur Division.

According to official sources, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) began restoring services following directives from the federal government. Internet access had remained suspended across AJK since June 5.

The first phase of the restoration covers Mirpur Division, while internet services in the remaining divisions will be restored once the security situation improves, officials said.

The decision comes just days before polling for the Mirpur Division elections on July 27, with digital connectivity gradually returning to the area.

Earlier, Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari welcomed the expected restoration of internet services in Mirpur and credited the efforts of the PPP in Azad Kashmir and the intervention of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission.

Bilawal also expressed hope that internet restrictions in Muzaffarabad and other parts of AJK would soon be lifted, allowing residents across the region to regain full digital connectivity. Officials said services in the remaining two divisions are also expected to be restored in the coming days if the law and order situation continues to improve.
